CILICIA. Anazarbus. Severus Alexander, 222-235. Hexassarion (Bronze, 32 mm, 28.14 g, 12 h), CY 249 = 230/1. ΑΥΤ ΚΑ Μ ΑYP ϹЄO ΑΛЄΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander to right, seen from behind. Rev. ΑΝΑΖΑΡΒΟΥ ΜΗΤΡΟ / Γ Β / ЄΤ ΘΜϹ Biga of elephants advancing right, dragging a car with the reproduction of a small temple. RPC VI online 7364 var. (differing obverse legend). Ziegler - (Vs3/Rs10, unlisted die combination). Extremely rare. Some weakness and with to minor spots of corrosion on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
